Week 17

Well if the stress of the last 2 days doesn't make me binge nothing will...lol. I went to a friend's birthday party Monday night. On the way home I hear this squeal and a pop, being remotely knowledgeable in cars I was pretty sure the sound I had just heard was a belt breaking. However it didn't set off any gauges or lights so I knew it was probably my a/c belt. So I shut off my a/c and just took it easy going home. When I got home I was trying to see if I was missing a belt or if anything else looked out of place, but couldn't see much with it being dark. I went in and found a flash light and came back out to take a peek. Sure enough a little ways down in the front I see a pulley with no belt and then the fragment of a belt hanging. So I tried to pull it out because I didn't want it to get caught in another belt and cause any problems. I pulled and it didn't wanna come out, so I got a better grip and yanked it. It fought me but came out. Later I would realize how big of a mistake this was. Because the reason the belt was broken was the a/c compressor locked up and snapped it. What was causing the resistance was the locked pulley, so the nice 2 hour massage I had received earlier in the day was completely wrecked by grabbing and snatching that belt. I sent my traps & erectors into a nice muscle spasm that tighten up and has yet to let go. Thank goodness I have 3 days off to recover now. However the lovely locked up compressor that basically means no a/c had to be replaced. The thing about a/c systems is when you replace a piece in the system and open it up there are other pieces that also have to be replaced so it can add up. Being in Vegas in July is not a time that you can be without a/c in a car we hit 111 the day I dropped it off to be fixed. I picked it up today setting me back $1680. Sad thing is the price of the parts is what killed me not the labor. The guy who worked on my car asked the guy at the dealership why the price of the compressor had gone up $20 in less than 2 weeks. It's sad but you know it's because it's summer and they know people have to have a/c. What people who don't live here don't realize is that it is so hot during the day that it can't cool down enough at night to make a difference...for example at 4am this morning it was 90 degrees so cars don't cool off on the inside. Parked cars can literally reach 160+ degrees inside. All I can say is I have saved money to have in case of an emergency and this qualified!! LOL A year ago I would have been screwed so I am proud of myself for creating that fund and refusing to touch it. (Addie aren't you proud of me!?!?!) Time to start rebuilding it now. Anyway on to the weight loss for the week. I lost another 1.6lbs. I stuck to my gym commitment as well. Even with my hurt shoulder I went to the gym and met my trainer I just made sure she knew about my shoulder and we took it easy on that. I did 1 hour of weight training today. I may go back and do water aerobics later depending on how I feel. One of my new workout buddies is moving out of state which sucks cause she os awesome and I have a great time working out with her, but I totally understand why she is moving, but still gonna miss her. I still have another one though. Hope everybody had a great holiday. Take care until next week.

p.s. I am considering doing the half marathon in the Las Vegas marathon in December. I'll keep you posted.
